Rising Above Tragedy: Ehsaan’s Path to Education and Hope

At just 13 years old, Ehsaan Ali has faced more hardship than many experience in a lifetime. Living in the small village of Ballygond, Gilgit-Baltistan, tragedy struck his family six years ago when his father succumbed to a prolonged battle with tuberculosis. Without access to proper medical treatment for over 25 years, Ehsaan’s father had been bedridden, leaving the family in financial ruin. His mother, the backbone of the household, turned to selling local fruits and wood from their small land to make ends meet. Yet, the family continued to struggle, with no one strong enough to plough the fields.

Ehsaan’s elder brother, then only 10 years old, left the village for the city to earn a living. For three long years, he toiled to support the family but ultimately returned, realizing that home needed him more. Together, they began piecing their lives back together.

Despite the hardship, Ehsaan found solace and hope in education. Once a shepherd, he is now a dedicated student at Khawaja Abdul Majid TAKMIL School, where he loves learning and is particularly fond of English. He eagerly participates in Naat and debate competitions, shining brightly in every opportunity presented to him. His favorite teacher, Sir Sakhawat, brings the lessons to life, filling Ehsaan with joy and enthusiasm for learning.

When not at school, Ehsaan helps his mother with household tasks and loves to spend time with his best friend, Gulzar Ali. He treasures the simple beauty of his village and often enjoys walks on the mountain tops, appreciating the wisdom of the elders in his family.

Ehsaan dreams of becoming a teacher, determined to give back to his community by educating the children of his village. With TAKMIL’s support, he is now on a path to break the cycle of poverty and inspire others. His story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, showing that even in the face of adversity, education can light the way to a brighter future.

This journey of hope and perseverance is made possible through the support of donors like you. Together, we can help more children like Ehsaan realize their potential and transform their futures.

𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐎𝐝𝐝𝐬: 𝐆𝐮𝐥𝐳𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐢’𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫

Gulzar Ali is a remarkable 17-year-old student from the village of Ballygond in Gilgit Baltistan, enrolled in 6th grade at Khawaja Abdul Majid Takmil School. Despite his special needs and numerous obstacles, Gulzar’s passion for education and determination to overcome adversity make him a shining example of resilience.

Gulzar’s family has faced significant financial hardships, particularly since the loss of his father 15 years ago. The family’s sole breadwinner is Gulzar’s elder brother, who works as a laborer to support his three younger brothers and sister. With limited income and no additional support, financial constraints have delayed Gulzar’s education, leaving him behind his age group peers.

In addition to his schooling, Gulzar plays an active role in supporting his family by performing daily chores. He gathers wood from the nearby hills and herds goats to help ease the burden on his elder brother. Despite these demanding responsibilities, Gulzar remains committed to his studies, demonstrating exceptional time management and perseverance.

Gulzar is deeply passionate about education, with Urdu being his favorite subject because of its clarity and simplicity. His love for learning is further reflected in his active participation in school activities like Bazm-e-Adab, where he showcases his skills in poetry and speech. His teachers, especially Sir Sakhawat Wali, have noticed his strong potential and continue to encourage his progress.

Gulzar dreams of becoming a doctor, a profession he greatly admires. However, the journey toward realizing this dream is fraught with challenges. The lack of proper schooling facilities and transportation in his village, combined with his disability, severely limits his ability to fully access educational opportunities. While he has a keen desire to boost his talents and pursue higher education, these barriers stand in the way of his aspirations.

The Need for Support:

To achieve his dream of becoming a doctor, Gulzar requires external support. His current school does not offer the specialized resources or environment needed to help him advance beyond his current situation. With better facilities and access to a reputed educational institute, Gulzar is confident that he can overcome the limitations of his disability and financial hardships.

Gulzar Ali’s story is one of determination, resilience, and hope. Despite his challenging circumstances, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of education and his dream of becoming a doctor. With the right support from donors, Gulzar has the potential to break free from the barriers that hold him back and achieve his full potential. Investing in Gulzar’s education is not only an investment in his future, but in the future of his family and community as well.

Your support can transform Gulzar’s dreams into reality, giving him the tools and resources needed to succeed in life.

𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐌𝐈𝐋 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚, 𝐊𝐡𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐊𝐏𝐊

In the heart of Khyber Agency, surrounded by rugged mountains and adorned with plains, lies the picturesque village of Kalanga Aka Khel. This tranquil settlement, with its barren yet enchanting terrain, is a testament to nature’s resilience, mirroring the indomitable spirit of its inhabitants.

The people of Kalanga Aka Khel, numbering around 4000, cultivate the land with dedication, primarily focusing on crops like Jawar (Sorghum) and Wheat. Their agricultural endeavors extend to cultivating vegetables such as onions and potatoes, contributing not only to their sustenance but also creating a vibrant community that shares its produce.

The residents, known for their friendly nature, form a close-knit society where the bonds of camaraderie are woven into the fabric of everyday life. In times of joy and sorrow, they stand united, reflecting the essence of true community living.

Before the arrival of TAKMIL, the educational landscape in Kalanga Aka Khel was barren, much like its terrain. The absence of formal and non-formal schools within a 2-kilometer radius meant that the children aged 6 to 15, often labored in the fields alongside their parents. Education was not considered a priority, and the older boys often sought employment in larger cities to contribute to their family’s livelihood.

In 2022, the Shaheed Mobeen Shah School opened its doors, heralding a new era for the children of Kalanga Aka Khel. Abid Afridi, a dedicated young man pursuing a BS in Nursing told the whole story and situation of the village. He started as a teacher in 2022 at Shaheed Mobeen Shah School but later he took on the role of a TAKMIL schools coordinator and overseeing 7 schools in KPK, determined to change the narrative.

The impact was transformative. For the first time, the village children were not only gaining an education but also participating in the Lahore Science Expo 2023. This significant achievement marked a historic moment for Kalanga Aka Khel, as its students stood shoulder to shoulder with thousands of schools from across the nation.

Through TAKMIL’s intervention, the village that once echoed with the winds of missed opportunities now resonates with the laughter and dreams of its children. The school has become a symbol of hope, breaking the shackles of ignorance and paving the way for a brighter future.
